DIY Plans of Solar Water Heat System for Cold Weather Area
Four plans are described in this manual, it is easy to follow step by step with a large amount of pictures, no plumbing background is required, most of parts are available in local store, P1(plan1) is the foundation of system for update late, also works itself. You can easily to update to P2, P3 and P4 anytime with a little effort. Hot water volume capacity is unlimited based on P1 design. The material costs from P1 to P4 are between $950 and $2500, P5 is for commercial application (e.g. restaurant, laundry, and hotel) or residential radiant floor, the cost is case by case. Please see the table for comparison of plans.

Heat exchanger: CPH (copper pipe homemade), PHE (plate heat exchanger)
Tank: regular electric water heater, 50-80 gallon, new 80gallon is around $450, a non-pressured homemade tank can hold over 200 gallon hot water, material will cost around $200-300.
